Choosing the correct way of eating or food plan for you is very subjective and depends on so many things. At House of Maxx we pay attention to good food for gut health and the ripple effect of that is good skin health.
Health and lifestyle coach Jenny Herdman looks at so many areas of your life and together will customise a plan that is unique to you and your needs. Areas that we pay attention to include:
Country, climate and ethnicity
Think of a tree growing in a tropical climate and we uproot it, transplant it to a colder climate and it draws nutrients from the soil that is foreign to it. It doesn’t thrive as well. We are the same.
Birth and beyond
Our skin and gut health didn’t just decide to give us clues that something is wrong. Going back through family history, birth and what lead up to today is a huge piece of the puzzle and very revealing. This is when clients have their ahha moment.
Childhood illnesses and diet
What you ate as a child can be just as revealing. Most of us lived in a household where it was encouraged to eat everything on your plate….sound familiar? Understanding childhood likes and dislikes, cravings and family foods help you understand how foods may or may not be working for you.
DNA health and blood types
Where we come from and knowing our blood types is one way of understanding how foods work. As we evolved so to did our foods and our blood types changed to accommodate that. We share the theory that foods either act as a medicine are neutral or act as a poison. Increasing foods that act as a medicine while eliminating foods that act as a poison can make a huge difference to gut and overall health.
Injuries and illnesses from childhood to present.
Were you a sick child or teenager? Antibiotics, medications and illness have a huge impact on our health and well-being. If any of this ticks the boxes then now is a good time to reverse the damage caused over that time. Our body has an amazing ability to repair if given the right environment to do so.
Mental health
Did you know that 90% of our seratonin is produced and housed in the gut? Our brain and gut are connected by the Vegas nerve that sends messages from the gut to the brain. Forever talking and making sure your body stays in homeostasis. Mental health and well-being has a direct link to gut health.
Social and lifestyle choices.
Social and lifestyle choices our way of “being” in the world. By learning to live your life, guilt free and full of love and laughter, tweaking some things that don’t serve us means we can have our cake and eat it too. We live in a world full of rules and conflicting information. Tune in and learn how to listen to what your body wants and needs is empowering sustainable. No more guilty pleasures or denying but understanding and honouring ourselves is so beneficial to who we are.
Dietary foods currently on.
Choosing the right diet for you is about denying all that we love and have available to us but making choices that better serve us and understanding why they serve us. Whatever dietary theory you adopt Jenny helps guide and nurture your way through the maze.
Jenny always says “it’s like putting the missing pieces of the jigsaw together” Simple easy step by step integration of foods and lifestyle changes, along with education of how foods effect or benefit you sets you up for personal empowerment and longevity.
